Alex, a 55-year old owner and founder of a small computer firm wanted to promote a health conscious environment and support the cause by bringing in experts in the fitness industry to provide proper guidance. He wanted to set up a corporate challenge for his employees to compete in an upcoming event at the end of the year. The business would pay for a portion of the fees and the employees could use their flex accounts to pay for additional services that interested them.
Alex agreed to bring in Phase IV to give a series of lectures providing an in-depth overview of the basic training components. The Physical Therapy staff then assessed the general needs of the group and performed a Structural Exam to find out the structural limitations of each employee. It turned out this corporate support was a great motivator for many of the staff, using their flex accounts to take their personal performance to the next level.
The initial lecture series and examinations encouraged 80% of the employees to participate in other activities. Phase IV agreed to make regular monthly visits to the company, reinforcing and updating their training. Among the services provided:
The starter program designed specifically for Alex's company informed and empowered his employees to take on a challenge they would not have done without instituting this corporate challenge. The intrinsic value of this event is difficult to assign a dollar amount. The camaraderie and healthful messages have reaped untold rewards for the employees and the company. Company employees completed a local triathlon and many of the individuals continued to train on their own for other events. The talk around the water cooler continued throughout the year as the staff looked forward to competing in next year’s corporate challenge.
