Julie, a 43-year-old public relations executive, wife and mother of two (8 & 12), was tired of unsuccessful attempts to lose the 25 pounds she gained after her second child. Her busy schedule managing her family and a demanding career at a large public relations agency did not allow Julie much time for herself. She was consistently tired and felt she had less patience then in the past. Despite short-lived spin classes, gym memberships and numerous attempts at fad diets, she was not able to get any positive sustainable results. Finally, after a regular visit to her doctor, Julie was told her blood pressure was starting to be a concern. Julie then decided it was time to make some real and lasting changes in her life.
We met with Julie, discussing her health risks and the realities of her life where time was not in ample supply. The consult highlighted numerous changes Julie needed to address, providing an understanding of how a science-based approach would help solve her health, fitness and lifestyle needs. After the fact gathering, the Phase IV staff met to design the plan. It was clear that the Equipose Program program would fail if it proved too time consuming and wasn’t able easily incorporate it into her already hectic schedule.
A critical focus for Julie’s Phase IV program was on changing the way her body currently processed food. The first order of business was to re-engineer the way her body utilizes different substrates and teach her body to become a "Better Butter Burner". It was necessary to find her metabolic zones and show her how to effectively stay within a certain range to illicit optimal results. Next she would learn how to properly manage her nutritional needs and finally, incorporate an effective exercise regiment.
Julie was able to re-engineer the way her body used different substrates, making her diet work. With the structural stability work, she was able to enjoy her exercise and lower her blood pressure. Julie noticed a marked improvement in her energy and found she was far less irritable at work. After eight years of struggling with her weight, Julie became a “Better Butter Burner,” losing the extra pounds that numerous other diets could not.
